Rob McBride, M. Ed.
Rob McBride has been the Executive Director of the corporation since its inception in 1983. Rob has worked as a teacher, researcher, writer and producer, principally in the settlement language training and adult literacy basic skills sectors. Rob works on projects where building basic knowledge and skills has the maximum positive impact on the work and personal lives of learners.
Karen Hilderman, B.A., CTESL, OCELT
Natalina L’Orfano has taught ESL/LINC for more than 35 years. She has also been a teacher trainer and mentor to CTESL students throughout her career. She is still passionate about teaching and believes that teacher burnout doesn’t exist if we keep learning in all aspects of our field.
Carol Derby, Master of Education, Adult Education

Carol Derby is the manager of the Language Services, Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS). She oversees face-to-face, online and blended English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes. With an M. Ed. in Adult Education, she has over two decades of experience in EAL, with a focus on workplace communications and program development. As well as the New Language Solutions Board of Directors, she also sits on the National Language Advisory Body and the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks Board of Directors.
Ryan Drew: BA Honors, MA TESOL, TESL Cert, Essential Skills Practitioner Cert, CLB Expert

Ryan began her career at SUCCESS 19 years ago. At the start of 2018, Ryan was appointed Director, Integrated Services for Newcomers, where she supports all of the social service programming at SUCCESS – services for newcomers, seniors, youth, families, entrepreneurs, and vulnerable populations – including LINC programs. She is proud to ensure the delivery of quality services that enrich people’s lives.
Larry Iveson has been a LINC/ESL teacher since 1980. He has been PBLA Lead Instructor since 2010 and a CCLB Regional Coach since 2014. He has been involved with innovative program delivery with Television Language Training/New Media Language Training since 1985.
Algonquin College Language Institute
Kathleen has taught English as a Second Language in Africa and Northern Quebec, and worked as an administrator in the Learn IT to Teach Project from 2010-2011. She currently teaches English for Academic Purposes to newcomers to Canada at the Algonquin College Language Institute in Ottawa.
Ottawa-Carleton District School Board
Diane has been a LBS/LINC/ESL teacher since 1993. She joined the New Language Solutions Board in 1999. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about utilizing technology to enhance literacy and language learning. She is currently the Technology Support Instructor for the LBS/LINC/ESL programs at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
